4th Annual Napa River Rock & Stroll Puts the “Fun” in Fundraising

Kaiser Permanente Napa-Solano presents the Napa River Rock & Stroll family fun run on Saturday, September 22, 2012. The 6K fun run/walk along the Napa River Trail is a great way to engage in a healthy activity and support local families. The event is suitable for all ages and fitness levels.

The fun begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Kennedy Park softball fields and ends at Veterans Memorial Park in Downtown Napa. Participants will enjoy live music performed by local musicians along the River Trail during their run or walk and will be greeted at the Finish Line Festival by hopping dance tunes and cheering crowds. The festival features kids’ activities and family-friendly vendors. Registered participants receive a race bib, race t-shirt and reusable water bottle (while supplies last), goodie bag, free downtown parking and shuttle to the starting line at Kennedy Park.

Entry fees start at $15 for children to $25 for adults. Participants can register online at www.napariverrockandstroll.org  or pick up an entry form at Cope Family Center. Early registration is encouraged, as prices will increase on September 8th. Race-day registration begins at 7 a.m. at the Kennedy Park softball fields.

Community members who want to do more to benefit the children and families of Napa County are encouraged to form teams of co-workers, friends, neighbors, family or club members, and raise funds. All donations and funds raised will benefit Cope’s child abuse prevention programs and are tax-deductible. Details on forming a team are provided at www.napariverrocknstroll.org

Corporate Sponsor Highlight – Classic Party Rentals

Classic Party Rentals joined the Cope Community Circle giving club in 2010 and has been a strong supporter ever since.  Michael Prichett, general manager of Classic Party Rentals for Napa/Sonoma, joined the Cope Family Center Board of Directors six months ago and volunteers his time to help with fundraising and various development projects. Michael says, “I thoroughly enjoy volunteering for Cope and strongly believe in their mission. My relationship with Cope has given Classic Party Rentals business exposure at their events and we look forward to partnering with them in the future.” Cope’s two big events this fall, the Carbo-Load Dinner and the Napa River Rock & Stroll, would not have been so wildly successful without the generosity from the business community and corporate sponsors such as Classic Party Rentals. 3rd Annual Napa River Rock & Stroll Huge Success

You Rock!

Thanks to all of you who participated in the 3rd Annual Napa River Rock & Stroll 6K family fun run/walk on September 24, 2011. Due to your efforts we were able to raise $80,000 to support child abuse prevention programs at Cope Family Center. The Pre-Race Carbo Load Dinner at the Napa Mill’s Riverbend Terrace got the party started with just over 250 people in attendance. Live music, fantastic pasta and delicious desserts were enjoyed by all.

  • Over 1,000 walkers and runners registered for the fun run, a 25% increase over last year.
  • 61 teams and individual fundraisers raised $25,000 this year! The Woman2Woman Team raised $2,280, while Carole Rehbok was our top individual fundraiser with $1,605 in sponsorships.
  • More than 200 volunteers helped plan and coordinate the event and the Carbo-Load Dinner.
  • The Finish Line Festival was attended by more sponsors and vendors this year, introducing our families to many services and resources centered around healthy living.

With the Rock & Stroll behind us, we work to ensure that Napa children are raised in safe, nurturing homes. The child abuse rate has almost doubled since 2007 in Napa County, with an average of three reports a day! As we celebrate our 40th anniversary in 2012, we’ll need your help to help us fulfill this mission.

To find out how you can get involved or for updates on our work, we’d like to invite you to follow us on Twitter (www.twitter.com/copefamilyctr), like us on Facebook (www.facebook.com/CopeFamilyCenter), and read our blog (copefamilycenter.wordpress.com).

Again, thank you for your participation. Be sure to save the date for next year’s Rock & Stroll: Saturday, September 22, 2012!
